A furry hacktivist group has breached Disney, leaked 1.1TiB of data, and says it's because Club Penguin shut down - PC Gamer
- Disney has suffered a massive leak of employee and company information, after hackers claimed one of its software managers was the victim of a Trojan horse malware attack. A whopping 1.1 tebibytes (About 1,120 gigs) of data has been leaked online, including personal information and details of unannounced products, including videogames. And the hackers say they're furries, and cite the shutdown of Club Penguin in March 2017 as justification.

- So how did this happen? A classic piece of Trojan horse malware that, apparently, was packaged up with a mod for BeamNG, a popular game often seen in social media clips that is basically about all kinds of vehicle physics and crashing things. This "mod" was downloaded by a Disney manager of software development on their personal computer, which also had access to Disney's Slack channels (a popular corporate messaging system). Once the hacking group was in, it perpetrated a second hack on the same employee through an unknown method, and began downloading everything it could. The Disney employee eventually noticed and managed to block further access, but only after all of the above data had been stolen.

🌙 Marc Quinn: The Matter of Life and Death

Self is made of eight pints of Quinn’s own blood, approximately the amount in an adult male body. It was extracted over a period of a year, then poured into a mold of the artist’s head and frozen.
Quinn’s two-part intention for Self is articulated in his description of the work as “a representation which not only has the form of the sitter, but is actually made from the sitter’s flesh”; and that “only exists in certain conditions, in this case being frozen, analogous to me, with a person being alive.” Although it began as Quinn’s artistic investigation into the limits of the inseparability of content, material, and form, as an ongoing project, Self became an inquiry into how the beauty and mystery of the human condition lies in its perpetual suspension between life and death.

It is the first cast in the series of four sculptures - which Quinn has pledged to produce every five years to catalogue the ageing process - that has been bought by a museum collection in Britain. The other three sculptures are in New York, Dallas and Korea, both in private hands and public galleries.

First, Quinn had to remove the 5.7 liters of blood from his own body which he did over 5 separate sessions so that he wouldn’t pass out. He then made a cast of his own head by covering it entirely with plaster and leaving breathing holes for his nose. The plaster case perfectly replicated his features and picked up minor details like certain creases of his skin, and his eyelashes. The cast was then filled with blood that had been collected, and immediately frozen. The final work was displayed in a Perspex box filled with silicone oil that had to kept at a sub-zero temperature.
Quinn made a personal connection between the sculpture’s complete reliance on electricity and his own dependence on alcohol (when he was suffering from alcoholism). So the sculpture not only makes a comment on the universal transience of human life; it also reflects a particular and vulnerable part of Quinn’s life.

🌙 10 Questions With The Artist Claiming To Use Charles Manson’s Ashes

RYAN: I’m pretty close to the Manson inner circle as I corresponded with Charles in the late 90s, so when Manson passed I approached Jason Freeman (Manson’s grandson) with the idea to do a series of paintings using his blood and possibly Charlie’s ashes for a series of paintings. Jason declined, and I abandoned the idea. As luck would have it, a few weeks later I happened to be watching a Facebook Live feed by a fellow that calls himself “Stoner VanHouten” who is a superfan of Manson’s and gives tours of Spahn Ranch, where the Manson followers lived. I brought up the project that Freeman declined and Tony chimed in. Tony was Jason Freeman’s friend. He announced that he was at the funeral and obtained some of the ashes. We made our deal on Stoner’s live feed. I agreed to give Tony the first painting of the series and the rest is history.

The painting, titled ‘Ladylike’, was estimated to sell for £50,000-80,000, but failed to make this price bracket. The piece, which was not owned by Doherty, was sold alongside several other of the former Libertines singer’s paintings, as well as guitars, private diaries and other possessions. There were 17 lots in total, all of which sold. Most of the lots were sold online, but there were also sales in the auction house, including a jacket which went for £1,000.

🌙 Vincent Castiglia’s art isn’t for the faint of heart

His work has drawn attention from prominent names in the heavy metal music scene, most notably, Slayer guitarist Gary Holt, who commissioned Castiglia in 2016 to paint his guitar using both Holt’s and Castiglia’s blood, the late Gregg Allman was an avid fan of Castiglia’s artwork, and purchased several of his paintings, and comedian Margaret Cho commissioned the artist to paint with her blood mixed into the piece.
Castiglia began using blood in his art in 2000, shortly before he began working as a tattoo artist. At first his use of blood began as accent colors in his pen and ink work. Over time, his own blood became the medium the artist says he works with exclusively, except for commissioned pieces wherein he may mix the client’s blood with his own.
It took nearly a decade for Castiglia to fine tune his method. He began by extracting small amounts of blood by cutting himself with diabetic lancets and letting the blood into a spoon, painting quickly from there to avoid coagulation. Traces of this crude method can be seen in blood clots found in some of his early works. Today, he collects his blood intravenously, with the help of a registered nurse. Each session she draws 15-18 3ml-sized vials at a time. He keeps the blood, mixed with an anticoagulant, in his refrigerator for later use.
To create around the five consistencies ideal for him to paint with, he then mixes his treated blood with water. The lightest mixtures use just a few drops of blood. The most opaque consistencies he uses for his darks are made up almost entirely of his blood. The darkest passages in his work are also due to the natural decomposition of his blood drying in the open air, which is, in part, why his pieces can take up to several months to complete.

This is to certify that KISS members, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss, have each donated blood which is being collectively mixed with the red ink to be used for the first issue of the Marvel/KISS comics. The blood was extracted on February 21st, 1977 at Nassau Coliseum and has been under guarded refrigeration until this day when it was delivered to the Borden Ink plant in Depew, New York.
